OYSTER CREEK PARK TO BE RENAMED

CHARLOTTE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ON TUESDAY WILL VOTE ON A PROPOSAL TO RENAME ENGLEWOOD’S OYSTER CREEK REGIONAL PARK AFTER A FORMER WFLN HOST.  THE ENGLEWOOD EDGE REPORTS THAT THE PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD RECOMMENDS THE NAME CHANGE TO ANN DEVER MEMORIAL REGIONAL PARK.  DEVER WAS THE MONDAY HOST OF THE POPULAR DAILY SHOW ALL ABOUT WOMEN FOR MORE THAN A YEAR BEFORE SHE LOST HER BATTLE WITH CANCER IN OCTOBER OF 2009.  DEVER WAS A TIRELESS CHAMPION OF THE YOUTH OF ENGLEWOOD, AS SHE WAS THE PRESIDENT OF THE GREATER ENGLEWOOD BIG BROTHERS, BIG SISTERS AS WELL AS CHAIRWOMAN OF THE CHARLOTTE COUNTY PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD AND A DIRECTOR OF THE PLACIDA ROTARY.  SHE ALSO STARTED HER OWN ORGANIZATION “KIDS NEEDS OF GREATER ENGLEWOOD” AFTER BEING DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER.
