THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES AT THE LEMON BAY PLAYHOUSE SENT OUT AN ANNOUNCEMENT TUESDAY MAKING OFFICIAL WHAT MOST ALREADY KNEW…THE PLAYHOUSE WILL NOT BE BUILDING AN NEW THEATER, RETAIL, AND ARTS COMPLEX ON WEST DEARBORN STREET; OR ANYWHERE ELSE FOR THAT MATTER.  ACCORDING TO THE ENGLEWOOD EDGE, THE LETTER SAID THE SCOPE OF THE PROJECT WAS TOO MUCH FOR THE PLAYHOUSE TO HANDLE PLUS THERE IS TOO MUCH AT STAKE TO TAKE ANY CHANCES ON PURCHASING A PARCEL OF LAND THAT SITS BETWEEN WEST DEARBORN AND GREEN STREETS THAT WOULD HAVE HOUSED A 300-400 SEAT THEATER ALONG WITH A RESTAURANT, RETAIL SPACE, MEETING ROOMS, AND ART EXHIBIT SPACE.  THE BOARD ALSO THANKED THE COUNTY FOR THEIR COOPERATION AND ASSISTANCE IN THE PROJECT.
