Port Charlotte Man Arrested for Assaulting 69-Year-Old Masseuse After Alleged Demand for Sexual Favors
Port Charlotte, FL — A 30-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a 69-year-old masseuse at Lotus Spa in Port Charlotte after demanding sexual favors.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office reports that Joseph James Dixon entered the spa, located at 3860 Tamiami Trail, on Thursday. After requesting a massage, the employee informed him that payment was required upfront. Deputies say Dixon became agitated and demanded sexual favors, and when the employee refused, he attacked her.
A second employee, hearing the commotion, intervened and witnessed Dixon physically assaulting the masseuse. While attempting to stop the attack, the second employee was headbutted by Dixon. A third witness, observing the altercation, restrained Dixon until deputies arrived.
The 69-year-old victim sustained bruises and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Both the second employee and the witness reported minor injuries but declined medical care.
Dixon was arrested at the scene and is facing charges of battery on a person 65 years or older and battery by intentional touch or strike.
