A PORT CHARLOTTE MAN WAS ARRESTED YESTERDAY MORNING AFTER HE ALLEGEDLY STOLE A VAN AND BURGLARIZED A HOME TUESDAY EVENING.  DETECTIVES SAY 27 YEAR OLD MICHAEL DUNBAR STOLE A DODGE VAN WHILE IT WAS PARKED AT THE MCDONALD’S AT 4695 TAMIAMI TRAIL IN PORT CHARLOTTE AT AROUND 7PM TUESDAY.  THE OWNER LEFT THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION, MAKING IT AN EASY MARK.  DEPUTIES LOCATED THE ABANDONED VAN ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF LATER IN BAYSHORE PARK IN CHARLOTTE HARBOR.  THEN AT ABOUT 10:45PM, THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE RECEIVED A CALL ABOUT A BURGLARY IN PROGRESS TO A HOME AT 3525 PORT CHARLOTTE BOULEVARD.  THE OWNER SAID HE FOUND A MAN IN HIS HOME AND A REAR BEDROOM WINDOW WAS SMASHED.  THE BURGLAR STOLE A SMALL BLACK FIRE SAFE BOX AND FLED OUT OF THE BROKEN WINDOW.  THE SAFE CONTAINED VEHICLE TITLES, FOUR $2 DOLLAR BILLS, CIGARETTES, AND OXYCODONE PILLS.  A NEIGHBOR TOLD DEPUTIES HE HEARD A LOUD BANG AND SAW A MAN RUN PAST HIS HOME, AND JUST AFTER MIDNIGHT, DEPUTIES CAUGHT UP WITH DUNBAR, WHO WAS POSITIVELY IDENTIFIED BY THE WITNESS.  DETECTIVES FOUND TWO OF THE $2 DOLLAR BILLS ON HIM.  HE WAS ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH GRAND THEFT AUTO, BURGLARY, POSSESSION OF BURGLARY TOOLS, AND GRAND THEFT.  HE IS BEING HELD ON $25,000 DOLLARS BOND IN THE CHARLOTTE COUNTY JAIL.
