CHARLOTTE COUNTY SHERIFF’S DETECTIVES ARE ASKING FOR HELP IN FINDING A MAN WHO PASSED AND ATTEMPTED TO PASS FIFTY DOLLAR COUNTERFEIT BILLS AT TWO CIRCLE-K STORES IN PUNTA GORDA EARLY MONDAY MORNING. THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE RECEIVED THE FIRST CALL JUST AFTER MIDNIGHT FROM THE CLERK AT THE CONVENIENCE STORE AT 5169 DUNCAN ROAD, WHO TOLD THEM A BLACK MAN HAD MADE A PURCHASE WITH A FAKE BILL AND LEFT THE STORE. THE MAN THEN MADE HIS WAY TO THE CIRCLE-K AT 6117 DUNCAN NEAR THE INTERSTATE AND TRIED AGAIN. THIS TIME THE CLERK DENIED THE PURCHASE AND HE LEFT. THE SUSPECT IS DESCRIBED AS A BLACK MAN BETWEEN 20 AND 30 YEARS OLD; 5’7 TO 5’9” TALL, ABOUT 175 POUNDS WITH TWO GOLD FRONT TEETH. HE WAS WEARING A BLACK KNIT CAP, BLACK SHIRT, BLACK LEATHER JACKET, BLUE JEANS AND WHITE SNEAKERS. IN BOTH CASES HE WAS A PASSENGER IN A WHITE OR SILVER MINI-VAN WITH TWO OTHER PASSENGERS HEADING TOWARDS THE INTERSTATE. IF ANYONE HAS INFORMATION, THEY CAN CALL THE CHARLOTTE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE AT 639-2101.
