DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office-Today was a day of firsts, but not for these two repeat offenders. Dep. Thurek, a newly certified DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office Deputy, was working traffic for the first time today. On the first traffic stop of his career, he made his first (and second) arrest. Dep. Thurek, his trainer, Deputy Santana, K9 Corporal Bierman, and let us not forget K9 Lucy, found harmful unlawful drugs and drug equipment in a vehicle occupied by Joshua Willis and Karen Brooks. Brooks was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Willis was arrested and charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Violation of Probation. Great job on your firsts, Dep. Thurek. Sheriff Potter reminds the community that the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office will continue to work hard every day to keep deadly unlawful drugs away from our DeSoto County community.
