A CHARLOTTE COUNTY DEPUTY ON PATROL EARLY FRIDAY MORNING FOUND A STREET SWEEPER FULLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES IN FRONT OF SHECKLER’S PRODUCE ON SOUTH MCCALL ROAD IN ENGLEWOOD. DEPUTIES SAY THE DRIVER GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE SAFELY, AND ENGLEWOOD FIREFIGHTERS PUT OUT THE FIRE WITHOUT ANY DAMAGE TO THE BUSINESS. THE 62 YEAR OLD DRIVER TOLD DEPUTIES THAT HE SAW FLAMES COMING FROM BEHIND THE CAB OF THE SWEEPER AND PULLED INTO THE PARKING LOT. FIRE OFFICIALS ARE STILL INVESTIGATING THE CAUSE, BUT THEY DID SAY THERE IS NO INDICATION OF ARSON.
