UPDATE ON SHOOTING INVESTIGATION
The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division (CID) has been working tirelessly on this shooting investigation since it occurred on 1/29/2023. The victim, who was shot through the back/spine, remains hospitalized at this time.
Detectives collected and processed evidence, security camera footage and conducted countless witness interviews, which quickly lead to probable cause for the arrest of two suspects.
Arrest warrants for ATTEMPTED MURDER are now on file for 19-year-old Carlos Manuel Lopez and 13-year-old Jeavani Luna (based on the severity of the crime and safety concerns, this juvenile’s identity is being released to the public).
At this time, the firearm used to commit the attempted murder has not been located and as such, these two should be considered ARMED and DANGEROUS. If you see them, please call 9-1-1 and DO NOT approach them.
