Three Arrested in Port Charlotte Drug Bust Following Search Warrant Execution

PORT CHARLOTTE, FL – July 29, 2025 — A major drug bust on Thursday morning led to the arrest of three individuals after Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics detectives executed a search warrant at a residence on Astoria Avenue.

Backed by the SWAT, Traffic, Aviation, K9, and Road Patrol Units, deputies arrived at 20329 Astoria Avenue in Port Charlotte as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation sparked by multiple community tips. Inside the home, detectives discovered trafficking quantities of fentanyl and methamphetamine, along with cocaine, psilocybin, and other controlled substances.

The operation resulted in the arrest of three suspects:

  • Mohamed Rahim, 30, identified as the primary suspect,

  • Megan Brelsford, 41,

  • Fernando Ortigoza, 53.

Rahim faces multiple felony charges, including:

  • Trafficking in Fentanyl

  • Trafficking in Methamphetamine

  • Possession of Cocaine

  • Two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance

  • Possession of Psilocybin

  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

  • Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon

Brelsford was charged with:

  • Possession of Fentanyl

  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Ortigoza was charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine

  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

All three suspects were transported to the Charlotte County Jail following their arrest.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office credits the success of the operation to the combined efforts of multiple units and the crucial tips provided by local residents.
