DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office
On Monday, May 20, 2024, the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a routine traffic stop due to a vehicle with no working lights or tail lights. When the driver, Gregory Paul Summers Jr., was asked for his license, insurance and registration, he delayed providing documents.
Corporal Friend and K9 Kita arrived on scene, discovering furniture cushions in the bed of the truck, which turned out to have illegal narcotics stuffed inside. A small firearm was also located under the seat inside the vehicle. In total, 8 bags of cocaine weighing 4.29 grams and 13.80 grams of marijuana were seized.
Summers was then arrested and transported to the DeSoto County Jail, facing charges including Sell/Manufacture/Deliver/Possess Controlled Substance, Flee or Attempt to Elude Law Enforcement, Two Counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Resisting Officer without Violence.
