TWO MEN WERE ARRESTED TUESDAY AFTER THEY FILED A FALSE REPORT ABOUT A VEHICLE BURGLARY.  DEPUTIES WERE CALLED TO A HOME ON SPRING CIRCLE WHERE THEY MADE CONTACT WITH FOUR MEN.  THEY SAID THAT SEVERAL PEOPLE HAD JUST BROKEN INTO A VEHICLE OWNED BY DANIEL BRUTUS AFTER THEY HAD RETURNED FROM DROPPING OFF A FRIEND IN PUNTA GORDA.  THEY SAID THEY SAW TWO WHITE MEN WITH CROWBARS ATTEMPTING TO BREAK INTO THE VEHICLE.  ONE OF THE MAN, RYNE GERVAIS, SAID HE CHASED THE SUSPECTS BUT COULD NOT CATCH UP WITH THEM.  DEPUTIES CHECKED THE DAMAGE ON BRUTUS’ VEHICLE AND FOUND THE PASSENGER DOOR CAVED IN, BUT NO SIGNS OF THE DOOR BEING HIT WITH A CROWBAR.  THEY ALSO SAW A FRESH SCRATCH ON THE CENTER OF THE DOOR AND QUESTIONED IF IT HAD BEEN INVOLVED AN A CRASH RECENTLY.  THEY THEN CHECKED GERVAIS’ VEHICLE AND FOUND SILVER PAINT TRANSFER ON THE RIGHT REAR BUMPER.  AFTER MORE QUESTIONING IT WAS DETERMINED THAT GERVAIS AND ANOTHER MAN, JOSEPH FINNEGAN LIED ABOUT THE BURGLARY AND THAT GERVAIS BACKED HIS TRUCK INTO BRUTUS’ VEHICLE AS HE WAS LEAVING EARLIER IN THE MORNING.  DEPUTIES DETERMINED THAT BRUTUS AND ANOTHER MAN WERE INSIDE THE HOME AT THE TIME OF THE BOGUS BURGLARY AND WERE DECEIVED ALSO.  BOTH FINNEGAN AND GERVAIS WERE ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH FILING A FALSE POLICE REPORT.  BOTH MADE BOND AND WERE RELEASED.
