Two Killed in Head-On Collision Near Arcadia
A tragic crash early Sunday morning claimed the lives of two Arcadia residents on State Road 31 in Charlotte County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident happened just north of County Road 74 when a 22-year-old man driving northbound crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound SUV driven by a 63-year-old man. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
The impact caused extensive damage to both vehicles, prompting troopers to close State Road 31 in both directions for several hours between Bermont Road and the DeSoto County line while investigators worked the scene.
FHP continues to investigate the cause of the crash. Names of the victims have not yet been released.
