TWO MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENTS IN NORTH PORT SUNDAY SENT TWO RIDERS TO THE HOSPITAL WITH SERIOUS INJURIES. NORTH PORT POLICE SAY THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED AT 12:30 SUNDAY AFTERNOON AS 38 YEAR OLD AARON HUGHEY OF FORT LAUDERDALE WAS HEADING SOUTH ON A LARGE OPEN TRAIL NEAR LANGLAIS DRIVE AND CAPERS CIRCLE. HUGHEY LOST CONTROL AND VEERED OFF TOWARDS A WATERWAY WHERE HE STRUCK SEVERAL TREES. HE WAS BAYFLITED TO BAYFRONT MEDICAL CENTER IN ST. PETERSBURG IN CRITICAL CONDITION DESPITE WEARING A HELMET AND EYE PROTECTION. THE SECOND WRECK HAPPENED JUST BEFORE MIDNIGHT SUNDAY WHEN 31 YEAR OLD JAMEY PEYTON WAS EASTBOUND ON EAST PRICE BOULEVARD. PEYTON LOST CONTROL AND WAS THROWN FROM THE BIKE AT ORLANDO BOULEVARD. HE WAS ALSO BAYFLITED TO BAYFRONT MEDICAL CENTER IN SERIOUS CONDITION. POLICE SAY IT DOESN’T APPEAR THAT ALCOHOL OR SPEED WAS A FACTOR IN THIS ACCIDENT, AND THEY SAY BOTH INCIDENTS ARE UNDER INVESTIGATION.
