U.S. 41 Bridge Reopens Following Hurricane Helene Flooding

Charlotte County officials have announced the reopening of both the north- and southbound bridges on U.S. 41 into Punta Gorda. While the bridges are now accessible, residents are encouraged to stay informed about road conditions. “To view a list of road closures, visit www.CharlotteCountyFL.gov/storm,” officials advised, cautioning that the list is subject to change as floodwaters recede and additional closures are identified.

Earlier Advisory

Earlier in the day, Charlotte County authorities issued a warning for residents to avoid driving and stay clear of standing water following the severe flooding caused by Hurricane Helene’s storm surge. “We urge everyone to stay off roads until further notice,” the statement read. “There is no guarantee that any road in the county will be free of flooding or dangerous debris.”

The situation remains fluid as officials continue to monitor road safety and assess damage across the county.
