A PUBLISHED REPORT SAYS NORTH PORT POLICE ARRESTED TWENTY FIVE YEAR OLD ASHLEY MARTINSON OF HEATON TERRACE OVER THE WEEKEND ON CHARGES RELATED TO CHECKS STOLEN FROM ONE OF HER CO-WORKERS AT A PUBLIX SUPERMARKET. THE SIXTY FIVE YEAR OLD VICTIM TOLD POLICE SOMEONE CASHED THREE OF HIS CHECKS TOTALING $300 AT A DISCOUNT TOBACCO AND BEER STORE AND THAT HIS SIGNATURES ON THE CHECKS WERE FORGERIES. ONE CHECK WAS REPORTEDLY PAYABLE TO MARTINSON AND THE OTHER TWO WERE PAYABLE TO THE STORE. HE SAID MARTINSON MUST HAVE TAKEN THE CHECKS FROM HIS GLOVE COMPARTMENT WHEN HE GAVE HER A RIDE HOME FROM THEIR GROCERY STORE JOBS AND SHE ASKED HIM TO STOP AT A CONVENIENCE STORE AND BUY HER A SOFT DRINK. MARTINSON IS CHARGED WITH THREE COUNTS OF FORGERY, THREE COUNTS OF PASSING A FORGED INSTRUMENT AND THREE COUNTS OF PETIT THEFT. SHE WAS RELEASED FROM THE SARASOTA COUNTY JAIL AFTER POSTING BOND.
