A VENICE WOMAN DIED IN AN ACCIDENT IN EAST ENGLEWOOD FRIDAY AFTERNOON.  THE FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL SAYS 16 YEAR OLD BRIAN HAUSCHILD OF PORT CHARLOTTE WAS EASTBOUND ON SOUTH MCCALL ROAD APPROACHING THE INTERSECTION OF OCEANSPRAY BOULEVARD JUST AFTER 2:15PM FRIDAY WHEN HE TURNED HIS DODGE DURANGO LEFT INTO THE PATH OF A DODGE SHADOW DRIVEN BY 72 YEAR OLD CHARLOTTE KUROPATWA OF VENICE.  THE COLLISION SENT BOTH VEHICLES SPINNING OUT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION.  A PASSENGER IN KUROPATWA’S CAR, 76 YEAR OLD MARY HASTINGS OF VENICE, WAS AIRLIFTED TO LEE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL WHERE SHE WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD A SHORT TIME LATER.  HAUSCHILD WAS TAKEN TO ENGLEWOOD COMMUNITY HOSPITAL WITH MINOR INJURIES, WHILE KUROPATWA WAS TREATED AT THE SCENE FOR MINOR INJURIES.  TROOPERS SAY BOTH LADIES WERE WEARING THEIR SEATBELTS WHILE HAUSCHILD WAS NOT, AND CHARGES ARE PENDING THE COMPLETION OF THEIR INVESTIGATION.
