ONE PERSON WAS KILLED AND THREE OTHERS WERE INJURED IN AN ACCIDENT AT A VERY BUSY SARASOTA INTERSECTION ON SUNDAY.  THE FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL SAYS 25 YEAR OLD DANIEL GARCIA OF RUSKIN WAS SOUTHBOUND ON US 301 APPROACHING UNIVERSITY PARKWAY AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AT AROUND 4:20 SUNDAY AFTERNOON WHEN HIS VAN BEGAN WEAVING SIDE-TO-SIDE.  37 YEAR OLD JOHN MARTINEZ-GUTIERREZ WAS STOPPED AT THE LIGHT AT THE INTERSECTION AND SAW THE VAN APPROACHING FROM BEHIND, SO HE TRIED TO AVOID THE COLLISION BY MOVING TO THE RIGHT.  GARCIA’S VAN SIDE SWIPED GUTIERREZ’S JEEP, AND THEN HIT A HONDA CIVIC THAT WAS DRIVEN BY 56 YEAR OLD DEBRA GILLETT OF SARASOTA.  THAT COLLISION SPUN THE VAN OUT AND IT HIT A PICK-UP TRUCK THAT WAS DRIVEN BY 58 YEAR OLD SUSAN MULLINNIX OF SARASOTA.  A PASSENGER IN THE PICK-UP, 51 YEAR OLD PAMILA YODER OF SARASOTA WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE, WHILE MULLINNIX WAS TAKEN TO SARASOTA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IN CRITICAL CONDITION.  GILLETT WAS ALSO TAKEN TO SARASOTA MEMORIAL WITH MINOR INJURIES, WHILE GARCIA WAS BAYFLITED TO BAYFRONT MEDICAL CENTER IN ST. PETERSBURG IN CRITICAL CONDITION.  TROOPERS SAY THEY WILL AWAIT TEST RESULTS BEFORE DETERMINING IF GARCIA WAS UNDER THE INFLUENCE, AND ONCE THOSE RESULTS ARE IN THEY WILL DETERMINE WHAT CHARGES TO FILE AGAINST HIM.
