A routine traffic stop in Desoto County took a dramatic turn when a deputy observed a passenger tossing a small black bag into the woods. The truck was pulled over for speeding, clocked at 53 mph in a 30 mph zone. That’s when deputies say Jimmy Lundquist II, the passenger, tried to get rid of evidence right before their eyes.
With backup on scene, K-9 Lucy alerted to narcotics near the passenger side door. A search of the vehicle turned up a glass pipe with meth residue in Lundquist’s backpack. Deputies then retrieved the discarded bag, which contained 23.74 grams of meth, enough to trigger a trafficking charge in Florida, along with cocaine, marijuana, and 18 packaged Suboxone strips. Lundquist, who has 17 prior convictions, now faces a laundry list of felony charges including trafficking and evidence tampering.
