A traffic stop on the Liberty Expressway in Dougherty County, Georgia turned into a foot chase Thursday morning when ICE agents tried to stop a van, according to Georgia State Patrol. Occupants fled toward a nearby wooded area, and one man ended up lodged under an ICE patrol car after officials say he fell in the median.
The man’s family identifies him as Edgar Cabrera Gomez and disputes the official version of events. A relative says Gomez was not the driver and was run over by ICE agents while he was running. Georgia State Patrol has not released further details, and authorities say two other people who were in the van remain at large.
