Allie Hummel was a 36-year-old nurse who went to sleep on June 23, 2026, and never woke up. According to tape from the hours after her death, her husband, board-certified anesthesiologist Dr. Andrew Hummel, said she aspirated in her sleep after taking medication.
A new episode of Following Leads examines home surveillance video and police body camera footage recorded in the months leading up to her death. That footage, along with her family’s account of repeated attempts to help her leave the home, raises difficult questions about what family members can realistically do when someone they love wants out. Authorities continue to investigate.
Cases like this one are a reminder of how much happens out of sight, and how home technology is quietly changing what investigators can see. There are no conclusions here yet, only footage and accounts still being examined.
