Justin Murphy was a Marine who signed his retirement paperwork in March 2024. Two days later, a drunk driver killed him while he was riding his motorcycle. He was ten houses from his own driveway. He and his wife Tracy had been high school sweethearts, together 21 years, married for 19 of them.
This month, Tracy Murphy graduated from the Arizona Department of Public Safety academy as part of Class 39 after 255 days of training. She will patrol overnight in Tucson, an area hit hard by DPS staffing shortages. Her reasoning is simple: if she can get one drunk off the road, she’s sparing another family the loss hers is living with.
