The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall is opening its doors and its back patio this Saturday, September 26, for the second annual Family Fest, and everything is free. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the bayfront venue hosts a multigenerational celebration modeled after its popular Friday Fests, with activities spread across the Grand Foyer and outdoor patio.
The headline attraction is Asolo Rep on Tour’s “Beanstalk: The Adventures of Jack and the Giant,” performed at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Both shows are sensory-friendly, with adjusted lighting and sound so that children who find traditional theater challenging can still enjoy live performance. Florida Studio Theatre Improv keeps the energy going at 11:30 a.m. with family-friendly games, and throughout the day visitors can grab a bite from food trucks and explore community activity stations.
One of the standout features is the Kids Market, where young local entrepreneurs sell beanstalk-themed goods and handmade items.
