The Fall Charity Market is back in Parrish on Saturday, Oct. 3, running from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Foxbrook community off State Road 675. Around 46 vendors will fill the market with handmade jewelry, tumblers, wooden items, soaps, jams, sourdough products, 3D-printed goods and cutting boards. Food trucks, a large raffle table and family activities round out the morning.
Every dollar raised goes to the Humane Society at Lakewood Ranch, which helped 400 animals last year and expects similar numbers this year. The shelter takes in dogs, cats and rabbits from Manatee, Sarasota and DeSoto county shelters, along with owner surrenders, and uses the funds for medical care and training to prepare animals for adoption.
Some adoptable dogs will be at the market, including Bessie, a 7-year-old resident who has been at the shelter about five years. She loves squeaky toys and needs a home where she is the only pet. Organizer Heather Abruzzino says the market has chosen a different local nonprofit every year for six years, with the Humane Society selected every other year.
