Memphis Police arrested Bailey Jobin and Joseph Polk on especially aggravated robbery charges after a man reported being held at a home near Pope and Omar Robinson streets on Sept. 23. According to police records, the victim was picked up by an acquaintance later identified as Polk and taken to the house, where a man known as “One-legged Jay” demanded money tied to a prior vehicle purchase.
The report describes an escalation that moved quickly. The victim was forced to strip naked. When he told the men, “You’re going to have to kill me here,” police say Polk shot him through the right thigh. Two unidentified men then punched him in the head, knocking out several of his teeth, according to the affidavit.
Polk faces additional charges including firearm, theft, evading arrest and license counts. The case remains under investigation, and the two unidentified men have not been publicly named. Disputes over money and property rarely end this way, but when they do, the consequences land on entire neighborhoods.
