Two frozen berry products sold at Walmart and Trader Joe’s are being recalled because they may be contaminated with E. coli. The Walmart recall covers Great Value frozen organic blueberries and frozen organic Triple Berry Blend in 10-ounce bags, sold in 30 states plus Puerto Rico. Trader Joe’s frozen organic Mixed Berry Blend in 12-ounce bags is also recalled, sold in 26 states plus Washington, D.C. Both are tied to a larger recall of frozen organic blueberries from Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. of San Carlos, Chile.
The FDA reports 17 E. coli infections between May and August 2026, including six hospitalizations, connected to that supplier. E. coli can cause severe illness, and the risk runs higher for young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems. That makes a freezer check worth the effort for households across the Suncoast, where frozen fruit is a staple for smoothies, oatmeal, and baking.
If you have the recalled berries, do not eat them. Throw them away or return them to the store for a full refund. Questions can go to Comfrut at [email protected] or 336-899-5612, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern. Have you checked your freezer yet?
