Walmart shoppers across the Suncoast and the country should check their freezers this week. The FDA says Bettergoods Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine is being recalled over listeria concerns, and what started as a two-lot recall now covers every lot of the 22-ounce frozen pasta. The product comes in yellow plastic packaging with UPC number 194346442706. No illnesses have been reported so far, but the recall is nationwide, so there’s a real chance it’s sitting in kitchens around Sarasota, Bradenton, and the barrier islands right now.
Listeria isn’t a typical stomach bug. It can cause serious and sometimes fatal illness, and it’s especially dangerous for children, older adults, pregnant people, and anyone with a weakened immune system. Retirees and snowbirds make up a big share of our Gulf Coast communities, so this one deserves more than a passing glance. The good news is the fix is easy: don’t eat the pasta, bring it back to Walmart, and you’ll get a full refund.
While you’re at it, this is a good excuse for a broader freezer sweep. Toss anything past its prime, and keep an eye on recall announcements as we head into the busy season. Questions about whether a product is covered? The FDA’s recall page and Walmart customer service can confirm the details. Have you ever found a recalled item in your own freezer?
