The gates at the Dogs Inc campus in Palmetto open to the public this Saturday, October 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Discovery Day, the nonprofit’s once-a-year behind-the-scenes event. It happens rain or shine, and all ages are welcome.
Visitors can spend time at Puppy Academy, catch demonstrations in the Canine Fitness Center, watch guide and service dog teams at work, and see scent detection and puppy raising lessons. The “Beyond the Dark” experience is the standout, giving guests a sense of what daily life is like for the people these dogs are trained to serve. Members of the Admissions and Volunteer Services teams will also be available for anyone thinking about applying for a dog or signing up to volunteer.
Registration fees from the event go directly to the nonprofit’s mission of providing dogs and services at no charge. Tickets and arrival time reservations are available now at dogsinc.org, and reserving early is a good idea if you want a specific time slot.
So, are you planning to head to Palmetto on Saturday, or do you have a service dog story of your own to share? Let us know in the comments.
