A Flood Warning is in effect for the Peace River at Arcadia near SR 70 after more than 7.5 inches of rain fell in Arcadia since midnight Monday. The river is expected to rise past its 11-foot flood stage late this afternoon and continue climbing to a crest of 15.9 feet early Wednesday morning, according to the WINK Weather Authority.
At 16 feet, up to 60 homes in the River Acres community could experience flooding. The Woman’s Club and American Legion are also in the impact zone. The warning remains in effect from this afternoon until further notice, and river levels could shift as the crest approaches.
Residents along the Peace River should move valuables and important documents to higher ground, avoid flooded roads near SR 70, and keep close tabs on the river gauge over the next 48 hours. If you have neighbors in River Acres, check in with them today rather than waiting for the water to arrive.
