A Jeep went over the embankment at Bridal Veil Falls near Highlands, North Carolina, on Saturday, September 19, landing in a rocky pit directly beneath the waterfall. The crash happened on U.S. 64, roughly 2.5 miles west of downtown Highlands, a stretch of mountain road familiar to anyone who has made the fall drive through western North Carolina.
Highlands fire and rescue crews extricated one person who was trapped inside the vehicle. The driver was treated at the scene and then transported by paramedics to a local hospital. As of Monday, the driver’s condition had not been released.
