Bryant Myers, the Puerto Rican Latin trap artist whose legal name is Bryan Robert Rohena Perez, was arrested Friday in DeSoto County after deputies say he drove 113 miles per hour in a 60-mph zone on State Road 17. According to the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy clocked his SUV at that speed, and he continued for roughly seven miles with lights and sirens activated before stopping at State Road 17 and Southwest Palm Drive, where Arcadia police assisted with the arrest.

A search of the vehicle and his person turned up marijuana, including two packages labeled “blue raspberry” and an open bag in the center console. Myers, 28, faces four charges, among them felony fleeing and eluding and excessive speeding of 50 mph or more over the limit. He remained in the DeSoto County Jail on Friday with bond set at $6,150. Sheriff Jim Potter praised his deputies for getting the vehicle stopped safely.

The timing raised eyebrows for music fans across the Suncoast: Myers has 18.8 million monthly Spotify listeners and collaborations with Bad Bunny and Maluma, and he was scheduled to perform in Tampa at Grand Fortune that same night. For our Gulf Coast listeners who spend time on these rural highways, the story lands close to home. State Road 17 through DeSoto County is a quiet stretch, and a 113-mph run on it is the kind of thing that ends badly for people who never signed up for it.
