The barrier island between the Gulf of Mexico and Sarasota Bay was ranked No. 9 on Travel + Leisure’s 2026 World’s Best Awards list for the best islands in the continental U.S. The ranking is based on reader surveys from more than 200,000 travelers, and our local gem made the cut.
