Manning Officer Fired After Allegedly Helping Son, Not Calling 911, After Double Murder

A Manning police officer is off the force after investigators say he treated his son’s gunshot wound and never called for help following a double murder. Alexander Dukes Sr. was terminated after a search of his phone, a failed polygraph, and findings that his actions may have hindered the investigation and delayed medical care. His son, 22-year-old Antwone Dukes, is charged in the October 6th shooting at a Dollar General parking lot that killed Derek Parson, 19, and Keywaun Clark, 20.

Investigators say the younger Dukes drove to his father’s home after the shooting. The officer applied a tourniquet to his son’s leg but did not dial 911 or report the incident. Parson died at the hospital. Clark died after crashing his vehicle. Texts later recovered from the officer’s phone showed him warning his children about police roadblocks and traffic stops, activity he said he could no longer share once Sumter County encrypted its radio channel.

No criminal charges have been filed against Alexander Dukes Sr. at this time. Antwone Dukes remains in jail without bond. The case raises tough questions about the oath officers take, the duty to report crimes, and where family loyalty is supposed to end.
