A woman who was critically injured in a horse-drawn wagon accident at Lazy 5 Ranch in Mooresville, North Carolina, has died, according to her son. Eddie Quesenberry shared the news in a Facebook post on Thursday. The October 17 accident happened when a tree branch fell and struck the wagon, causing the horses to jump and three people to fall. All three were hospitalized. Quesenberry said his mother suffered serious head trauma.

In his post, Quesenberry wrote that it made him happy knowing that, even in their darkest moment, her love and generosity could bring hope to others. His mother was an organ donor. Her sister, his aunt, was also injured in the fall, and the family has not shared an update on her condition. A GoFundMe has been set up to help with mounting medical costs.

The story resonates on the Suncoast, where wagon rides and drive-through animal parks are a familiar family outing for residents and snowbirds alike. The tragedy is a reminder to check safety rules and stay seated during animal-encounter activities. Lazy 5 Ranch has not issued a new statement following the death.
