Longboat Key is getting a dose of black-tie glamour on October 15, when the second annual “Sound of Style” fundraiser takes over the St. Regis Longboat Key Resort at 6 p.m. The evening pairs a runway show from T. Georgiano’s Boutique with live music, all in support of the Sertoma Club of Greater Sarasota’s speech and hearing programs. Local celebrities, business owners, artists and community leaders will do the modeling, so expect plenty of familiar faces.
The cause behind the clothes is what makes this night stand out. Proceeds go to the Sertoma Kids speech and language clinic, which has been serving children since 1959, along with hearing loop systems, portable units for Sarasota Memorial Hospital, and hearing aids for kids. The club itself has been part of the Sarasota community since 1956, helping families regardless of their ability to pay.
Entertainment includes event chair Olga Ovchiyan, a classical pianist, performing with a violinist and other local artists. Ovchiyan says the event was built to bring fashion, philanthropy and the performing arts into one room for a cause that matters. Tickets are limited and a small number remain, so anyone hoping to attend should act soon.
