Two teenagers were killed in a late-night shooting Saturday in Spartanburg, and police are still searching for answers. Officers responded to reports of shots fired at the Cook Out on John B. White Sr. Boulevard around 11:30 p.m. on Halloween night and found two teens wounded in the parking lot. Both were treated at the scene and taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, where they died, according to police.
The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as 15-year-old Jayden Marek Watson and 17-year-old Shane Carter Dawkins. A third person was shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, taken to the hospital by a family member. As of Monday, no arrests had been made and no suspects identified, and police say the shooting remains under investigation.
Spartanburg Police Chief Art Littlejohn emphasized that the young people involved were not troublemakers, describing them simply as kids who were out on Halloween night. For families across the region, the story hits close to home: a holiday evening, a parking lot, and two lives cut short. Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact Spartanburg police.
