AN ELDERLY NORTH PORT WOMAN WAS ROBBED AT GUNPOINT AFTER DRIVING HOME FROM A BINGO GAME SUNDAY NIGHT.  NORTH PORT POLICE SAID THE WOMAN WAS BACKING HER CAR INTO THE GARAGE AT HER BARLOW TERRACE HOME WHEN A YOUNGER WHITE MAN SNUCK UNDER THE DOOR, STOPPING IT FROM CLOSING.  THE MAN HELD A BLACK HANDGUN TO THE WOMAN’S HEAD AND DEMANDED HER PURSE, WHICH HAD A WALLET, CELL PHONE, HOUSE KEY, COSMETICS, AND A ROSARY INSIDE.  THE WOMAN GAVE IT UP AND THE MAN FLED SOUTH ON BARLOW.  THE VICTIM TOLD INVESTIGATORS THAT AS SHE DROVE HOME FROM A PORT CHARLOTTE BINGO HALL, SHE WAS FOLLOWED BY AN OLDER BLUE CAR THAT TURNED INTO THE DRIVEWAY OF A VACANT HOUSE A FEW HOUSES FROM HER HOME.  SHE SAID SHE ALSO SAW AN OLDER-MODEL RED CAR PULL INTO A NEARBY HOME AT THE SAME TIME.  BOTH CARS WERE GONE WHEN INVESTIGATORS ARRIVED ON SCENE.  THE MAN WAS DESCRIBED AS BEING ABOUT 5 FEET 7 INCHES TALL AND WAS WEARING ALL BLACK CLOTHING WITH A BLACK SKI MASK.  ANYONE WITH INFORMATION IS ASKED TO CALL NORTH PORT POLICE AT 426-3111.
