THE JUVENILE OPERATIONS UNIT OF THE CHARLOTTE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SET OUT FRIDAY EVENING TO CHECK A DOZEN ENGLEWOOD BUSINESSES TO SEE IF THEY WERE SELLING TO UNDERAGE DRINKERS. WHAT THEY FOUND WAS ON THAT NIGHT, NONE WERE. THEY CHECKED A HALF DOZEN SERVICE STATIONS, THREE SUPERMARKETS, A CONVENIENCE STORE, A PHARMACEUTICAL STORE AND WAL-MART, AND NONE OF THE CLERKS SOLD TO THE UNDERAGE INVESTIGATIVE AIDE. THE SWEEP TOOK PLACE BETWEEN SIX AND TEN PM ON FRIDAY, AND EACH WILL RECEIVE A LETTER THANKING THEM FOR COMPLYING WITH THE LAW WHICH DOES NOT ALLOW SALES TO ANYONE UNDER 21.
