JURY SELECTION BEGAN YESTERDAY IN THE TRIAL OF A MAN ACCUSED OF KILLING HIS WIFE IN FRONT OF HIS THEN EIGHT YEAR OLD STEPSON. SCOTT HUSS FACES SECOND-DEGREE MURDER CHARGES IN THE DEATH OF HIS FOURTH WIFE YANNA BACK IN APRIL OF 2007. HER SON PETER REPORTEDLY SAW IT ALL HAPPEN BEFORE HE WAS WHISKED AWAY BY HUSS TO HIS GRANDMOTHER’S HOUSE IN LONGWOOD. PETER HAD BLOOD ON HIS SHIRT WHEN HE GOT THERE, AND HE TOLD HIS GRANDMOTHER WHAT HAPPENED. THE BOY TOLD AUTHORITIES THAT HUSS ARRIVED AT THE FAMILY HOME IN PORT CHARLOTTE AND TOLD THE BOY TO WAIT IN THE BATHROOM. PETER HEARD A SCREAM AND CAME OUT TO SEE HUSS STABBING HIS MOTHER WITH A LARGE KNIFE. RECORDS SHOW THAT YANNA HUSS CALLED POLICE DOZENS OF TIMES DURING THE FOUR YEARS OF THEIR MARRIAGE, COMPLAINING THAT SCOTT HUSS WAS ABUSING HER AND HER TWO CHILDREN. SHE HAD FILED DIVORCE PAPERS BEFORE THE MURDER OCCURRED. SCOTT HUSS FACES LIFE IN PRISON IF CONVICTED AS CHARGED. THE TRIAL IS EXPECTED TO LAST ABOUT TWO WEEKS.
