CHARLOTTE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ON TUESDAY VOTED 4-1 TO COMPLETE THE LAND SWAP WITH SOUTHWEST LAND DEVELOPERS. THE COMPANY WOULD GET 137 ACRES OF MURDOCK VILLAGE LAND, WHILE THE COUNTY WOULD GET 33 ACRES OWNED BY THE COMPANY AT THE ENTERPRISE CHARLOTTE AIRPORT PARK NEAR THE PUNTA GORDA AIRPORT. SOUTHWEST LAND DEVELOPERS HAS TEN YEARS TO TAKE FULL OWNERSHIP OF THE LAND, AND THEY ARE EXPECTED TO FINALIZE A DEAL WITH WATERPARK VENTURES TO DEVELOP A $130 MILLION WILDERNESS RESORT ON FORTY ACRES. THE GROUP ALSO HAS AN OPTION TO PURCHASE ONE HUNDRED ADDITIONAL ACRES AT MURDOCK AT FAIR MARKET VALUE. COMMISSIONER CHRIS CONSTANCE WAS THE LONE DISSENTER.
