A NORTH PORT MAN TOLD POLICE DISPATCHERS THAT HE WOULD USE FORCE AGAINST THEM IF THEY TRIED TO ENTER HIS ABIGAIL AVENUE HOME TO SERVE A WARRANT.  POLICE SAY 31 YEAR OLD STEVE REAM WAS WANTED ON CHARGES OF GRAND THEFT AND DEALING IN STOLEN PROPERTY.  AFTER BEING ALERTED, NUMEROUS OFFICERS SURROUNDED THE HOME AND AREA NEAR NORTH PORT BOULEVARD AT AROUND 5:30PM.  POLICE USED AN INTERCOM TO ASK REAM TO COME OUT.  POLICE REPORTED THAT DURING THE STALEMATE A YOUNG CHILD WALKED IN AND OUT OF THE HOME AND A WOMAN WHO LEFT THE HOUSE WAS DETAINED AND QUESTIONED.  POLICE LEARNED THAT REAM OWNED SEVERAL GUNS, AND THEY ALERTED NEIGHBORS TO STAY INSIDE THEIR HOMES.  REAM FINALLY CAME OUT WITH THE CHILD IN HIS ARMS JUST AFTER 7PM AND SURRENDERED PEACEFULLY.  ADDITIONAL CHARGES WILL BE ADDED FOLLOWING THE COMPLETION OF THE INVESTIGATION BY NORTH PORT POLICE.
