SARASOTA COUNTY DEPUTIES DESCENDED UPON AN AREA NEAR THE NEW CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BUILDING SOUTH OF DEARBORN STREET TUESDAY AFTERNOON. SHERIFF’S SPOKESPERSON SARAH KENNIFF TOLD WFLN NEWS THAT DETECTIVES WERE FOLLOWING LEADS IN THE INVESTIGATION OF AT LEAST NINE BREAK-INS OVER THE PAST TWO WEEKS, AND SHE SAID THEY HOPE TO HAVE MUCH MORE INFORMATION IN THE COMING DAYS. DEPUTIES SAY BURGLARS HIT FIVE BUSINESSES ON NORTH INDIANA AVENUE IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS OF JANUARY 26TH, AND THEY BROKE-IN TO AT LEAST THREE BUSINESSES ON DEARBORN STREET IN THE OVERNIGHT HOURS OF FEBRUARY 1ST, TAKING EVERYTHING FROM CASH TO COMPUTERS TO COSTUME JEWELRY, AND IN ONE INSTANCE, DRUGS. THEN LAST FRIDAY MORNING THE OWNERS OF THE TRUE VALUE HARDWARE STORE ON SOUTH MCCALL ROAD FOUND THEIR BUSINESS WAS BROKEN INTO, WITH THE ROBBER OR ROBBERS GETTING AWAY WITH CASH FROM THE SAFE THERE.
