VENICE CITY MANAGER ISSAC TURNER IS IN A FIGHT FOR HIS JOB. PUBLISHED REPORTS SAY THAT TURNER CONFIRMED AT LEAST ONE CURRENT AND TWO FORMER CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS HAVE ASKED FOR HIS RESIGNATION. TURNER ALSO SAID THAT COUNCIL MEMBER BOB DANIELS HANDED HIM AN AGREEMENT LATE LAST WEEK WHICH WOULD HAVE PAID HIM FOR THE NEXT NINE MONTHS TO JUST WALK AWAY FROM THE JOB WHICH HE DID NOT SIGN. TURNER CURRENTLY MAKES $111,000 A YEAR. DANIELS, ALONG WITH VENICE MAYOR JOHN HOLIC AND COUNCIL MEMBER JEANETTE GATES, WON ELECTION BIDS IN NOVEMBER. DANIELS FOR HIS PART IS NOT CONFIRMING OR DENYING HE GAVE TURNER THE LETTER, AND SOME COUNCIL MEMBERS SAID THEY HAD NO IDEA THAT SOMETHING WAS IN THE WORKS. THE ISSUE HAS NEVER BEEN DISCUSSED IN PUBLIC, BUT TURNER’S EVALUATION IS ON THE AGENDA AT THE NEXT CITY COUNCIL MEETING ON TUESDAY, SO STAY TUNED.
