Margaret Scott broke 137 bones in a car crash in December. On Monday, she walked out of Pines of Sarasota on her own two feet, roughly seven months after she arrived for rehabilitation. She entered the facility in February, about two months after the crash, and underwent several surgeries during her stay.
Recovery from an injury load that severe is not a single dramatic moment. It’s months of physical therapy, small gains, and setbacks that never make the highlight reel. Staff at Pines of Sarasota said Scott worked hard, calling her a wonderful person, and noting the team will miss her now that she’s moved on.
Her story is a reminder of two things at once: how quickly a routine drive can change everything, and how much a local rehab team can do when someone refuses to quit. Buckle up, every trip, no exceptions. And if you know someone in the middle of a long recovery, tell them about Margaret. What’s the longest recovery you’ve ever watched someone fight through?
