The U.S. Postal Service opened Operation Santa this week, and the program is now in its 114th year. Letters addressed to Santa at the North Pole are being accepted now, and there are a few details worth getting right before you seal the envelope.
Every letter needs a first and last name, a full return address, legible handwriting, and a specific gift list in order of preference. Mail it to Santa Claus, 123 Elf Road, North Pole, 88888, with a postage stamp on the front. The letter must be postmarked by December 5 to make the cutoff.
You don’t have to be a kid to take part. Registration opens November 2 for anyone who wants to help respond to letters and send gifts, which means you can read a wish from a family somewhere and be the one who fills it. Whether you’re in Sarasota, Bradenton, or out on the keys, it’s a small commitment with a long memory.
