Theatre Odyssey is bringing its Sixth One-Act Play Festival to the Cook Theatre in Sarasota from October 2 through 4, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most accessible arts events of the fall season. Four short plays, selected from roughly 100 submissions nationwide, will be fully staged across four performances. The finalists come from playwrights in Illinois, Minnesota and Florida, a nice reminder that Sarasota’s festival circuit has a national footprint.
The lineup features Mathew Green’s “Waiting to Film Waiting for Godot,” Claudia Haas’s “Sunday Sauce,” Arianna Rose’s “A Change of Heart” and Philip Middleton Williams’s “Reasonable Doubt.” Each play gets the full production treatment, with directors Bob Trisolini, Marcus Denard Johnson, Ann Morrison and Lee Gundersheimer at the helm. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. on Friday, 2 and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, and a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday.
