The White House press secretary’s office may have a new occupant. Multiple reports on Friday said Katie Zacharia, a communications adviser for President Trump’s Truth Social platform, has been offered the role. She would fill the vacancy left when Karoline Leavitt departed in August.
Zacharia, 42, lives in California. Her background includes work for the nonprofit Fix California and a brief stint at the Department of Homeland Security, a résumé that stands apart from the campaign press veterans who typically hold this job. She did not immediately respond to requests for comment, so the appointment is not yet official.
If confirmed, Zacharia would become the administration’s daily face to the press corps, a role that shapes how the public hears from the White House on everything from policy to crisis response. For coastal communities like ours, that communication matters when hurricanes, red tide, and emergency declarations are on the line.
