A 20-year-old woman from Laquey, Missouri, was driving westbound on Interstate 44 on Friday evening when a water bottle thrown from another vehicle struck her in the face. The impact caused her to lose control of her Ford Mustang near the 170-mile marker in Phelps County. The car veered off the road, hit an embankment, and overturned.

Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers report she sustained only minor injuries and was transported to a hospital for evaluation. Investigators credit her seatbelt for keeping her safe during the rollover. No other injuries were reported in the crash.

While this incident occurred hundreds of miles away, drivers here on the Suncoast know our highways and bridges get busy and sometimes tense. This story serves as a reminder that objects thrown from vehicles can cause catastrophic outcomes, and that simple safety habits like wearing a seatbelt save lives every day.
