Florida Highway Patrol is searching for a driver who struck a downed motorcyclist on northbound I-75 in Charlotte County and kept going. The crash happened around 11:20 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, near mile marker 163, according to troopers. A 41-year-old Sarasota man lost control of his 2012 Harley Davidson, was separated from the motorcycle, and came to rest in the inside lane.
A vehicle traveling north behind him struck the rider and did not stop, FHP says. The motorcyclist died at the scene. Troopers have not released a description of the second vehicle or its driver, and the investigation remains active.
