The annual Stuff the Bus food drive returns Sunday, Oct. 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 19 Publix stores across Manatee County. Shoppers can drop off nonperishable food or monetary donations at School District of Manatee County buses parked in each store’s lot, making it one of the simplest ways to give back this fall.
Every donation benefits The Food Bank of Manatee, a program of Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee, and stays local to support individuals and families in need. The drive is a partnership between United Way Suncoast, participating Publix stores, the School District of Manatee County, and presenter Mosaic. Organizers say volunteers are still needed for Sunday, and anyone interested can register online. Around 3 p.m., the buses return to The Food Bank of Manatee at 811 23rd Ave. E. in Bradenton for unloading.
If you’re planning a weekend grocery run, add one or two extra nonperishable items to the cart and look for the bus in the parking lot. What’s your go-to item to donate? Let us know in the comments.
