A father and his 4-year-old son were found dead Wednesday in Gainesville, Texas, two days after an Amber Alert was issued for the child out of Norman, Oklahoma. Caleb Furley, 25, and Andres Furley had last been seen Monday evening at a business, where surveillance video showed the two walking away together.
The search began Monday night when someone reported a suspicious interaction involving a father and son. Gainesville officers responded and used a drone to search the surrounding area but could not locate anyone at the time. On Wednesday, police made contact with a relative of Furley and learned the pair had last been seen at that business, leading investigators back to the area where the bodies were discovered. Norman police confirmed the identities, and Oklahoma authorities are working with Texas officials.
Gainesville Police Chief Kevin Phillips said the original contact simply appeared suspicious, prompting the caller to notify the department. He extended the department’s deepest condolences to those impacted. The case remains under investigation across two states.
